SaskCrops Submission for AAFC’s Sustainable Agriculture Strategy Consultation

The Saskatchewan Crop Commissions welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) on the Sustainable Agriculture Strategy (SAS) discussion document.

Status of Policy Issue: AgriStability

SaskCanola will continue to work with Minister Marit’s office and the federal government through CCGA to development new business risk management programming that will serve farmers effectively in the next agriculture policy framework.

Status of Policy Issue: Code of Practice

As a result of the feedback they received, the CRSC is determining next steps for a Code that reflects farmers’ concerns. SaskCanola is participating in this re-evaluation and will keep farmers interests front and center in these ongoing discussions.

Status of Policy Issue: Grain Contracts

SaskCanola will work with the provincial and federal governments to make contracts more fair to producers; and will support efforts to inform producers of their rights and responsibilities with regards to grain contracts.
